When You Die Your Mind Still Works and You Hear the Medics Announce Your Death

According to scientists, when the body dies, the mind still remains active, and people can hear the medics announce the time of death. Could this be another crazy theory?

When the heart stops working, it halts the blood supply to the brain. This is the time when medics announce the official time of death. However, some studies believe that the consciousness and the person’s mind still remain active.

As a result, in this short period, the deceased can hear medics announce their time of death. Therefore, these new studies might actually be a stunning breakthrough. Or, will it sound like another Hollywood action sci-fi movie?

What Do Researchers Believe?

Scientists believe that after the body ceases its functions, the person’s consciousness still remains untouched. As a result, the deceased are completely aware of their situation and what has happened to their bodies.

Researchers believe that they were able to prove such claims when the medical staff verified that the deceased had recollection and was aware after they announced the time of death. In addition, they managed to record brainwaves, and that the brain cells died much later.

In fact, it took them hours to die. Dr. Sam Parnia, who is the director of the research regarding critical care and resuscitation at Langone School of Medicine in NY, was the one who announced this claim.

Together with his team, the doctor was looking into patients who suffered a heart attack. Even though these patients technically died, they managed to come back to life.

This research is one of the largest ones ever conducted. There are even some studies that claim they had proof of patients who were aware of their surroundings, events, and conversations that happened after their time of death.

Further Studies

To verify these studies, researchers asked for help from the nursing and medical staff who were present. To completely verify the studies Dr. Sam had to know the exact time of death based on the moment when the heart completely stops.

As theory claims, when the heart stops there is no longer any blood supply to the brain, and the body dies. Also, the person loses all the reflexes in the brain, along with the pupil and gag reflexes. However,  as the new research claims, this is not the end of the human brain.

Instead, the brain remains active and bursts with energy, even upon death. As a result, researchers at the University of Michigan in 2013 tried to turn their focus towards the electrical signals of the brain after a heart attack.

In the end, they were able to find a sudden change in the activity patterns which linked to a hyper-alerted state. This brief state appeared immediately upon clinical death.

According to Dr. Parnia, if we understand the emotions for example ‘love,’ we will be able to understand what people are going through death completely.

Only after completely understanding the human’s qualitative nature, we will be able to understand one of the most unknown and complicated universal experience for us, death.

Animal Studies Shed Light On the Mystery

Because researchers were able to conduct animal studies, more precisely on rats, they were able to come to these conclusions. As a result, they believe that they are closer than ever to solving the most complicated mystery that humans have struggled with for centuries.

As researchers from the University of Michigan claim, by analyzing the signals of the brain in rats right after experiencing a heart attack, they managed to observe the activity of the hyper-alerted state. In addition, they were able to observe the patterns upon clinical death.

Besides, people often claim that there can be multiple signs of afterlife immediately after the soul separates from the body.

However, scientists have rejected these claims for years. They believe that those signs are simply a sign of psychological trauma and process that are unusual for the brain, especially due to the loss of blood.
